Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced and proactive HGV Mechanic to join our busy workshop. You’ll play a key role in maintaining Ringway’s specialist fleet, ensuring all vehicles are safe, compliant, and ready to support essential highway operations. Job Responsibility:

  • Carry out inspections, servicing, and repairs on HGVs and specialist plant
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT and compliance checks
  • Complete maintenance records in line with company and legal standards
  • Work efficiently to minimise downtime and support operational targets
  • Maintain high levels of health, safety, and workshop housekeeping

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Technician
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (preferred)
  • Strong diagnostic and fault finding skills
  • Good understanding of DVSA/VOSA compliance standards
  • Full UK driving licence (HGV Class 1 or 2 beneficial but not essential)
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
  • A commitment to safety and high quality workmanship
  • Experienced in Mercedes and Daf vehicles
  • Doing in depth Diagnostic using the Texa and Snap on machine
  • Mot Tester Class 4 and 7 ( beneficial to have class 5 as well)

Nice to have:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (preferred)
  • HGV Class 1 or 2 driving licence (beneficial but not essential)
  • Mot Tester Class 5 (beneficial)
