Job Description:

A new, independent specialist school in the beautiful Dorking area is seeking an enthusiastic Maths Teacher with expertise in SEN. The role involves teaching students aged 7-14 (initially) with Autism and/or SEMH needs, starting in September 2025 (or sooner for an exceptional candidate). The school emphasizes a holistic and nurturing educational approach, set within a natural therapeutic environment. The teacher will play a central role in developing and delivering engaging Maths content while working closely with a multidisciplinary team.

Job Responsibility:

Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, differentiated Maths lessons that inspire and motivate students with diverse learning needs
Develop and adapt curriculum content to meet the specific requirements of students with SEN, including Autism and SEMH difficulties
Utilise a range of assessment methods to monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and inform future planning
Create a positive, supportive, and well-managed classroom environment that promotes student engagement and wellbeing
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, teaching assistants, and other specialists, to support student development
Contribute to the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies
Foster a love of mathematics throughout the school and contribute to wider school initiatives
Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies
Commit to ongoing professional development and contribute to the school's inclusive and aspirational culture

Requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
A strong background in teaching Mathematics, ideally across KS2, KS3 and KS4
Proven experience and a genuine passion for working effectively with students with Special Educational Needs, particularly those with Autism and/or SEMH needs
A demonstrable ability to differentiate teaching and learning to meet a wide range of needs
Excellent classroom management skills, with a patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider community
A creative and flexible approach to teaching and problem-solving
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
An enthusiasm for contributing to the development of a new school and its unique ethos
