Job Description:

A well-established international British school in Madrid is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and student-centred Teacher of Mathematics and/or Economics to join its successful secondary team. The role involves fostering a love of the subject(s), ensuring strong academic outcomes, and teaching up to and including Pearson Edexcel IGCSE examination classes (and potentially A Level, depending on experience). This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to an ambitious and collaborative department.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality lessons in Mathematics and/or Economics across the secondary school
  • Foster students’ analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Contribute to a positive departmental ethos with a strong sense of purpose and pride
  • Support the implementation of rigorous quality-assurance processes to promote excellent teaching and learning
  • Collaborate on curriculum development, departmental planning, and resource design
  • Model outstanding classroom practice and support colleagues’ professional growth
  • Uphold whole-school policies related to safeguarding, behaviour, health and safety, and professional conduct
  • Assist with wider school duties such as cover, cycle tests, and assemblies when required
  • Ensure students meet or exceed progress and attainment targets

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • A minimum of two years’ experience teaching the British National Curriculum (in the UK or internationally)
  • Experience teaching Mathematics, Economics, or both, with a proven record of strong classroom practice and positive academic outcomes
  • A strong understanding of assessment to inform planning and improve student learning
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
