This part-time Mathematician supports the agency by conducting advanced statistical, computational, and bioinformatics analyses to support research and operational objectives. The role involves selecting appropriate analytical methods, developing and documenting well-annotated code and scripts, and producing methodological write-ups suitable for peer-reviewed publications. The Mathematician ensures proper use of analytical software, maintains thorough documentation and data backups, and provides analytical support to other CAMI team members as requested. This position is onsite in the Oklahoma City area.
Job Responsibility:
Performs analysis of datasets required to meet research and operational needs of the Numerical Sciences team using model selection and analytical approaches defensible in peer-reviewed literature
Identifies appropriate computational and statistical analyses required to complete bioinformatics objectives for processing data, including review of software documentation of any software used and responsibility for ensuring appropriate use of software and parameters to meet requirements of the data, including not violating assumptions of statistical analyses
Writes scripts and code as necessary to enable analyses, including sufficient annotation within (e.g., via use of # or comment lines) to allow future use by other team members
Provides all scripts, codes, and results to the Numerical Sciences team
Documents analytical methods used, including descriptions of names and versions of software along with features used
Writes up methods used in paragraph format at a quality and detail level appropriate for inclusion in peer-reviewed publications
Aids other members of the CAMI with this task upon request
Requirements:
Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property
Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics or closely related field (degree must be from an accredited university) and at least ten (10) years of research experience working with medical or biological data sets beyond attainment of the degree
