This role is offered on a part time basis of 30 hours per week, this means that candidates interested in working part time are encouraged to apply and will receive a salary on a pro rata basis. The Progressional Band 3 Maternity Support Worker (MSW) will provide essential support to the maternity team, assisting midwives in delivering safe, high-quality, woman-centred care across antenatal, and postnatal services. As part of the progression pathway, the postholder will commit to undertaking the Diploma in Newborn Hearing Screening within the first 12 months, after which the role will re band to Band 4 to reflect the additional skills and responsibilities. Job Responsibility
Postnatal Support: Provide practical and emotional support to parents and their newborn babies, assisting with feeding, infant care, and adjustment to parenthood
Newborn Screening: Undertake screening procedures on newborn babies, including hearing tests, metabolic screening, and other routine checks in line with Trust policies
Blood Clinics: Organise and run blood collection clinics (venepuncture/phlebotomy) for mothers and babies, maintaining accurate records and following infection control procedures
Parent Education: Participate in parentcraft and antenatal/postnatal education sessions, supporting teaching and learning activities for parents
Home Visits: Undertake postnatal home visits as a lone worker, providing assessment, guidance, and support while adhering to lone-working and safety protocols
Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate and timely documentation, ensure compliance with data protection and governance standards, and contribute to service reporting as required
Team Collaboration: Work closely with midwives, health visitors, and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care and support service delivery
Requirements
Care Certificate completed (with proof), or NVQ 3 in healthcare or equivalent training and experience
Committed to within the first 12 months undertaking a diploma in newborn hearings screening
Owner and Car driver is essential
Training and /or competency in the following: 1) Patient vital sign observations 2) Venepuncture 3) Neonatal observations

Previous experience working within a childcare/women's field
