As a Materials Planning Specialist, you'll guide and monitor the efficient operation of delivered raw materials (ingredients and packaging) to support the established production schedule and future requirements. Use your collaboration skills to coordinate incoming raw materials to ensure schedule compliance as you maintain adequate inventory levels at our Saint Joseph facility. Own the purchasing of long-lead time products and develop purchasing strategies for made-to-order materials, while acting as a liaison between corporate purchasing, vendors, and the Saint Joseph factory.

Job Responsibility

  • Guide and monitor the efficient operation of delivered raw materials (ingredients and packaging) to support the established production schedule and future requirements
  • Coordinate incoming raw materials to ensure schedule compliance as you maintain adequate inventory levels
  • Own the purchasing of long-lead time products and develop purchasing strategies for made-to-order materials
  • Act as a liaison between corporate purchasing, vendors, and the Saint Joseph factory
  • Work with finished goods planning to determine required quantities of assigned raw materials needed based on the production schedule and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system to ensure inventory balances support production while avoiding excess inventories
  • Order assigned raw materials as needed from outside vendors, using SAP
  • Coordinate purchases in a timely manner to minimize freight costs
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all vendor communications and as the collection point for the vendor notification process
  • Coordinate shipments of returned / rejected materials
  • Publish a weekly receiving schedule for assigned raw materials

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in operations, purchasing, or scheduling in a manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, military or related environment

  • Daily communication with the Front-End Parts Specialists team and Business Analysts, to understand spare parts forecasting requirements for various customers.
