Job Description

Our client provides design and manufacturing solutions that support a wide range of industries through custom-built components and systems, and they are hiring a Materials Manager to take ownership of purchasing, supplier relationships, and inventory control to support production operations in a hands-on role that directly impacts cost, efficiency, and production flow.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage procurement of raw materials, components, and outside services to support production
  • Source and negotiate with domestic and international suppliers (China experience a plus)
  • Review quotes and select vendors based on cost, lead time, and quality
  • Create and manage purchase orders, track open POs, and communicate with production
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels (raw materials, finished goods, purchased parts)
  • Analyze material requirements to ensure uninterrupted production flow
  • Improve inventory turns and support cost reduction initiatives
  • Utilize MRP systems for planning and tracking
  • Support continuous improvement and Lean initiatives

Requirements

  • 4+ years of Materials Management / Purchasing experience
  • Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor relationships
  • Strong inventory control and procurement background
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment (batch or similar preferred)
  • Proficiency with MRP systems and Excel
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Nice to have

  • CPIM certification
  • Lean / Continuous Improvement experience
  • Exposure to international sourcing
