Job Responsibility:
Selection of materials on the local market (Americas) considering local legal requirements global programs and their specific global requirements (sustainable materials, emissions, aging properties, a.s.o.)
Selection & release of local material suppliers in cooperation with purchasing department
Perform of release testing (material and function) in cooperation with the materials engineers in German headquarters
Knowledge of the differences between local and European/Asian materials and communication with development and customer teams
If required, negotiations with customers on the use of local materials with the aim of getting a customer release
Provision of materials data (from suppliers, out of internal and external databases, or, if necessary, create own material data with central departments) for design, simulation and virtual release of parts
Ensure availability of all materials requested in the central material management system SAP EH&S or in other documents
Assessment of new local materials developments/processes/technologies and check their applicability to Brose products
On demand, introduction of suitable new developments /processes/technologies in cooperation with development department and the materials engineers in headquarters
Assessment of customer requirements on materials (e.g. specifications, standards) as the basis for the creation of local Brose material standards in cooperation with the materials engineers in the German headquarters, thus building the basis for a local materials standardization process
Analyzes of competitor's products regarding the materials and process used (in cooperation with the central materials laboratory in Coburg)
Frequent communication with ZQU/WM for the purpose of an intensive exchange of experience and of a basic understanding of further organic materials to support the region
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in materials science or materials engineering
3 years in the field of materials selection and cost-efficient materials use
English fluent is a MUST
Knowledge of the local materials market in North America
Experience in cooperation with international partners (Europe / Asia)
Independent, proactive, good communication skills
Ideally, injection molding experience
