We are looking for a Materials Developer to step into a pivotal role, driving the creation of cutting-edge materials for upcoming seasonal collections. This is a 6-month hybrid engagement in Beaverton, OR. You will have an immediate and significant impact, shaping the future of performance and lifestyle products from concept to consumer, collaborating with design partners and suppliers to bring visionary ideas to life. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the evolution of iconic products within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and manage seasonal material development cycles, from initial concept through to final production
Initiate and oversee the comprehensive development process for new materials
Collaborate closely with design partners, translating creative visions into tangible, high-performance materials
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring the highest standards of material quality, innovation, and performance
Apply deep technical expertise to understand how materials integrate into garments and products, advising on construction and application
Manage the product testing process for all new materials, ensuring they meet rigorous performance and durability standards
Foster robust cross-functional relationships with various internal teams, facilitating seamless project execution
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a materials development role
Strong background in textile development, with proven experience creating fabrics for various applications, including outerwear and bodywear
Demonstrated experience in trim development, encompassing components such as zippers, elastics, and patches
Exceptional organizational skills and a meticulous attention to detail
Proficiency with industry-standard development tools and platforms
A positive attitude and ability to thrive in a very fast-paced and dynamic work environment
Comfort and adaptability when working with ambiguity, able to navigate evolving project requirements
Strong self-awareness and a high degree of professionalism in all interactions
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective teamwork across diverse groups
Nice to have:
PMP certification or another certification demonstrating expertise in managing complex projects is a nice-to-have
Experience in developing performance-focused materials, including those for specialized applications like swim, is a nice-to-have
Previous experience working with a leading global athletic or lifestyle brand is a nice-to-have
