Job Responsibility

  • Monitor and review declarable chemical substances list under environmental regulations in Canada, U.S., E.U., Asia and other countries (e.g REACH, ECHA, EPA, EUDR, PFAS etc.) that impact the use of chemicals in Bombardier Aviation products
  • Represent Bombardier in International Environmental Associations (e.g. IAEG) in the fields of materials and substances declaration, authorization and restriction
  • Lead designing, building, and maintaining efficient database for technical calculations and reporting
  • Support generation of compliance reports on environmental regulations and communicate it to internal stakeholders
  • Lead implementation of substance reporting process at detail part level up to Aircraft Assemblies and ATA chapters
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability through data validation, testing, and monitoring processes
  • Validate impact of regulated substances on Bombardier design parts as well as suppliers
  • Compile regulated substances information for products and work with different departments across the organization to inform customers under applicable regulations
  • Perform screening and impact assessment of declarable chemical substances used in Bombardier design parts
  • Support Bombardier’s Environment Compliance Office for risk management and identifying investigation items and R&D projects, within the roadmap of substance obsolescence/phase out
  • Ensure that engineering methodologies and strategies are integrated into Bombardier's Environmental Regulations Management System and reflected in aftermarket and suppliers’ declaration documents
  • Support maintenance of Bombardier product bill of substance database.

Requirements

  • You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering such as Mechanical, Material, Chemical or equivalent with over 10 years of relevant work experience
  • You hold a Master’s degree in Environment and Regulations (an asset)
  • You have experience in handling high-precision data, ensuring accuracy and preventing errors
  • You have experience in managing material composition data and working with Bill of Materials
  • You have the ability to understand and translate environmental regulations into engineering requirements
  • You have practical knowledge of the main environmental regulations and substance reporting standards
  • You have practical knowledge of developing and maintaining chemical substance reporting processes and tools
  • You have good knowledge of chemical processes and non-metallic materials e.g. paints, primers, sealants, adhesives and composites
  • You are able to coach and provide guidance to junior engineers and answer supplier queries
  • You have good spoken and written communication skills in both French and English
  • You have good knowledge of MS Office and experience in Power BI (an asset)
  • You have working knowledge of CATIA V5 browser and able to interpret Engineering drawings
  • You are a team player and demonstrate leadership
  • You recognize and respect differences in individual opinions while working towards meeting common objectives.
