Job Description:

Under broad supervision, the Material Handler II performs physical and administrative tasks related to material handling such as shipping, receiving, order fulfillment, returns, and storage. The Material Handler II also conducts cycle counts and resolves shipping discrepancies. This position lifts heavy items and operates a forklift.

Job Responsibility:

  • Utilizes the Warehouse Management System to perform scheduled and non-scheduled cycle count
  • May process Transportation Control Number verifications and returns
  • Receives and processes inventory from branch returns
  • Verifies that the product is in sellable condition
  • Processes sales and responds to customer inquiries by way of counter and telephone
  • Unloads and directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas
  • Verifies and records incoming and outgoing shipments with the Warehouse Management System
  • Gathers, verifies, and places items into order picking container for outgoing shipments
  • Prepares packing slips, shipping labels, bills of lading, and other required documents
  • Ensures warehouse work areas and equipment are clean, orderly, and properly maintained
  • Replenishes primary stock shelves from reserve stock locations as needed
  • Operates a forklift
  • Works after hours as needed
  • May perform driving duties

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of related experience or an equivalent combination
  • Ability to work as a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to comprehend and carry-out instructions provided in oral, written, and diagram format
  • Basic computer skills, including information processing required
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong customer relationship skills
  • Certified to operate a forklift
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Certified to handle hazardous material shipments
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds, with assistance as necessary

  • Consignment inventory, location to location moves, & inventory adjustments
  • Assists in the cycle counting process as requested
  • Operates hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material to and from trucks or within the facility
  • Responsible for the ongoing inventory accuracy of the facility
  • Notifies Inventory Control, Receiving Lead & Receiving Supervisor when material control issues are discovered
  • Works with Inventory Control & Lead(s) during investigations of quality issues, inventory issues, shipping complaints and process improvements
  • Works as part of the Distribution team to ensure all requested material transfers are completed accurately in a timely manner
  • Transfers, transports and stages materials in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintains warehouse documentation and other related records
