The Mate is responsible for the safe navigation of the designated vessel and the safe operational process during the watch. You will support the Master on all matters relating to the safe operation of the vessel. The contract will be to support The Ministry of Defence around the coast of the UK delivering various aspects of marine training including Aircrew Marine Survival Training, Target Towing and Range Clearance duties to support the armed forces.
Job Responsibility:
Assist the Master in his general responsibilities as detailed by the Master and to be second in command of the craft
Contributing to the improvement of company’s operational, nautical and technical processes and procedures
Responsible for the safe navigation and manoeuvring of the vessel under all circumstances during the watch by supervising the execution of the operational process during the watch
Maintain register of LSA and FFA equipment update and carry out checks/maintenance as required
Responsible to ensure the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the vessel
Maintain levels of deck stores (including sea-stock paint, mooring lines and fenders etc) and maintain levels of accommodation stores (cleaning, products, galley stores)
Ensure adequate food provision for expected operations
Requirements:
Proven track record of working at a command level onboard workboats
Advanced knowledge of operational processes of vessels and equipment
Experience of safety management systems and occupational health and safety regulations and legislation
Workboat Master <200GT or STCW OOW Deck
Training according to STCW Regulations
ENG1 Medical
Complete MOD security clearance (must be resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 years)
