The Master is in overall command of the vessel and day to day liaison with the customer. Full authority and responsibility for taking all necessary actions for safety, pollution prevention and efficient operation of the ship. The contract will be to support The Ministry of Defence around the coast of the UK delivering various aspects of marine training including Aircrew Marine Survival Training, Target Towing and Range Clearance duties to support the armed forces.
Job Responsibility:
To be fully aware of all factors affecting the immediate operation of the ship upon taking command
Familiar with the specific status of the vessel and its relation to the standards as generally accepted in the shipping industry
Supervises the vessel's navigation when entering or leaving port, in confined waters, approaching land or any danger, during fog or poor visibility or other adverse weather conditions
Ensure that a schedule is maintained which indicates planned working hours and periods of rest for all watch-keepers
Making daily inspections of all parts of the vessel ensuring that high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and preservation are maintained
Requirements:
Proven track record of working on small vessels
Advanced knowledge of operational processes of vessels and equipment
Ability to find solutions to problems, initiates activities and takes the lead
Proactive introducing proposals and ideas
RYA Yachtmaster Offshore (Commercially Endorsed – minimum for CAT2 Workboats)
ENG1 Medical
Training according to STCW Regulations
Complete MOD security clearance (must be resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 years)
