Job Description

Are you a successful Master Technician looking to take the next step in your career? Hartwell are a leading retail motor group in the UK and have been trading successfully for more than 100 years. Operating across 11 locations. We are seeking a Master Technician to join our team. The Master Technician will report to the Service Manager and will be responsible for meeting both franchise and company standards in a service environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Undertake maintenance, service and repair activities on motor vehicles of all types to the highest standard within scheduled times to meet company and franchise standards
  • Repair, test vehicles and diagnose their faults as and when required by Service Manager and supervisory staff
  • Replace components, parts, lubricants and consumables and record usage
  • Keep work areas clean and tidy, organised and safe from hazards to health and safety
  • Carry out work completely and effectively within manufacturers’ servicing and repair times
  • Advise and report on vehicle faults and servicing requirements while working on vehicles, including future servicing/repair requirements
  • Complete spot checks

Requirements

  • Qualified to NVQ level as a Master Technician
  • MOT Tester
  • Have at least 2 years experience after qualifying period, of working in a Franchise Dealership (or similar) preferably with Ford or Omoda/Jaecoo/Chery
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Take responsibility for the quality and quantity of their work and others
  • Currently entitled to work in the UK

Nice to have

Previous training for at least one of the above named brands will be highly beneficial

  • Carry out diagnostic testing on a wide range of company vehicles and equipment
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in mechanical and electrical diagnostics
  • Take ownership of technical campaigns and fleet checks within the depot
  • Report identified faults to the Technical and Systems Manager
  • Provide technical advice and support to the Engineering Manager
  • Support projects and trials on behalf of the Engineering Director and/or Technical Manager
  • Build strong working relationships with engineers and mentor apprentices where appropriate
  • Maintain effective communication with chassis/body manufacturers and OEM suppliers
