Are you a Dutch speaking Master’s student interested in the energy transition, power systems and consulting? AFRY Management Consulting Netherlands is looking for an intern to ideally start September 2026 in order help model the Dutch power grid and explore how grid congestion affects the future energy system.
Job Responsibility
Develop and complete an internship research project on Dutch power grid modelling, including grid congestion and system impact assessment
Define clear project objectives and research criteria together with your university supervisor and AFRY mentor
Build data-driven insights and models that support AFRY’s advisory work for clients in the energy sector
Translate technical analysis into practical conclusions and recommendations
Plan your work through realistic milestones and share progress regularly with your supervisors
Gain hands-on exposure to management consulting and AFRY’s services in the energy transition
Requirements
You are currently pursuing a master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Technology, Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Complex Systems Engineering and Management, Energy Science, or a related field. A business or economics background with a strong focus on power markets may also fit
You have an interest in power systems, power flow analysis, grid modelling, power markets and the Dutch energy sector
You enjoy working with data, structuring complex problems and turning analysis into clear conclusions
You are comfortable using Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Python, PyPSA or other power system analysis tools is a strong advantage
You communicate clearly in English
Dutch language skills are a strongly preferred
You are curious, proactive and motivated to learn in a commercial, client-focused consulting environment
You enjoy collaborating with others, while also being able to work independently and manage your own research planning
You are passionate about sustainability, energy markets and the future power system.

Experience with Python, PyPSA or other power system analysis tools
