We are looking for an experienced Master Planner / Sr. Planner to support a Long-term Contract opportunity in the Chelmsford, MA area. This position plays a central role in aligning customer demand with manufacturing capacity in a sophisticated production setting, helping maintain reliable delivery performance and efficient use of resources. The person in this role will oversee planning and scheduling activities, strengthen lead-time accuracy, and partner with cross-functional teams to keep operations running smoothly in a highly technical environment.
Job Responsibility:
Direct production planning activities across multiple manufacturing areas, ensuring priorities are aligned with customer commitments and operational capacity
Manage backlog health, sequence work effectively, and guide order flow to support timely completion and shipment targets
Evaluate incoming demand, confirm feasible lead times, and review order-related commitments based on available resources and production constraints
Use MRP/ERP systems to maintain planning data, release and track work orders, and support accurate inventory movement and traceability requirements
Partner with operations, engineering, logistics, and customer-facing teams to address bottlenecks, resolve scheduling conflicts, and improve execution
Analyze capacity, schedule adherence, and delivery metrics to identify risks early and adjust plans to minimize disruption
Improve planning processes, scheduling methods, and reporting tools to increase efficiency, accuracy, and overall operational performance
Lead continuous improvement efforts focused on workflow optimization, cost control, and stronger production planning outcomes
Provide direction and support to planners and schedulers while contributing to broader manufacturing and supply chain initiatives
Requirements:
At least 10 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain management within a manufacturing environment
Strong hands-on knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and their use in planning, inventory control, and work order management
Demonstrated success coordinating complex backlogs and scheduling activities across multiple production areas or sites
Background in high-mix or technically advanced manufacturing such as aerospace, defense, semiconductor, optics, or industrial production
Experience applying Lean principles and continuous improvement methods in an operational setting
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound planning decisions based on demand, capacity, and material availability
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements
Eligibility to obtain required security clearance and strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
