Job Description:

Be the reference in Airbus for aircraft Mass Properties throughout the life of the programme. To be accountable for the status and outlook weight data for the complete aircraft. As such, to define, implement and monitor the weight management standards for Airbus and the extended enterprise. To contribute to the aircraft optimisation process, providing overall aircraft, component and detailed mass properties. To enable Airbus to set appropriate weight targets and negotiate with Airlines on aircraft weight guarantees.

Job Responsibility:

  • Contribute to development of new vehicles (incl. derivatives), operational support of in-service vehicles and decommissioning
  • Define mass status, target mass and route to target
  • Contribute to monitoring and reporting mass at the various stages of vehicle life through Mass estimations, calculations, accounting and weight control
  • Validate mass by weighings
  • Collaborate with many technical disciplines to understand and to challenge the vehicle design in the quest for optimum mass
  • Deliver mass models for Loads analyses
  • Perform trade studies, benchmarking and competitors' analyses
  • Contribute to the overall vehicle optimisation
  • Provide support to Chief Engineering and Program for decision making
  • Contribute in Design reviews, Weight maturity reviews, weight savings, preparing and tracking mass Risk & Opportunities
  • Support marketing to prepare Customer Guarantees and vehicle deliveries. Load ability, weight & balance. Develop capabilities (R&T, M&T) and processes to enable and enhance Time, Quality, Cost delivery to the programs
  • Developing all the Mass properties competences in our products, Combat and Military Transport, working in a transnational team between Spain and Germany

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level in Aeronautical Engineering
  • Experience of 0-5 years
  • Flight Physics or Structural Design and Mass Properties experience will be highly valuable
  • English advanced
  • German will be valuable
  • The desire to work in an open and trusting environment
  • Agile with good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently/autonomously and is self-organised
  • Aspiration to work in an Engineering domain and discuss aircraft level topics
  • Keen to adopt a new way of working and to become empowered
