MASH Practitioner (Agency) – Children & Young People. Are you an experienced practitioner with a passion for safeguarding children and supporting families at the earliest opportunity? We’re working in partnership with Suffolk County Council to recruit a MASH Practitioner to join their busy and impactful Children & Young People service. This is a fantastic opportunity to be at the heart of decision-making, where your work will directly influence outcomes for vulnerable children and families. About the Role As a MASH Practitioner, you’ll be part of a dynamic Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub, working collaboratively with professionals across social care, health, education, and the police to assess and respond to safeguarding concerns. This is a hybrid role with a balance of office-based work (3 days) and home/community working (2 days).
Job Responsibility:
Triage and assess safeguarding concerns relating to children and young people
Apply the Signs of Safety and Wellbeing framework to inform decision-making
Provide clear advice, guidance, and signposting to families and professionals
Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to ensure timely interventions
Identify and escalate risk appropriately in line with safeguarding procedures
Maintain accurate and high-quality case records and reports
Support early help interventions and contribute to assessments and planning
Manage a varied and busy caseload effectively
Offer guidance and informal mentoring to less experienced colleagues where needed
Requirements:
Experience working directly with children, young people, and families
Background in early help, family support, or similar community-based services
Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and statutory frameworks
Proven ability to work within multi-agency environments
Confident in assessing risk and making sound professional judgements
Excellent communication, organisation, and report-writing skills
Experience contributing to assessments (CAF, statutory, multi-agency)
Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate concerns
Comfortable working in community settings and transporting children when required
Enhanced DBS (Children’s)
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable for community work)
