Job Description:

MDPI is seeking a proactive Marketing Specialist to join our Japan Marketing team. This role will support strategic marketing efforts in Japan through customer support, creation of Japanese-language materials, market research, and promotion to academic institutions. The Marketing Specialist will also collaborate with global teams and help strengthen MDPI’s presence in the Japanese academic community. We welcome candidates who take initiative and are eager to propose and implement new ideas. This position offers the opportunity to serve as a bridge between researchers in Japan and the global scholarly community, making a meaningful impact. The position is based in our Tokyo (Nihonbashi) office and involves frequent domestic and international business travel. Due to data security requirements, remote work is not permitted.

Job Responsibility:

Providing customer support (including creating Japanese-language materials)
Domestic market research
Promotions for universities, research institutions, and academic societies
Strategic planning and execution
Communicating, visiting, and building relationships with academic societies, universities, research institutions, and other academic societies in Japan
Communicating and collaborating in English with partner offices and colleagues around the world through our global network

Requirements:

Interest in academic publishing and the editorial process
Japanese language proficiency and business-level English proficiency (native Japanese speaker or JLPT/N1 level)
University graduate or above

Nice to have:

Graduate school (Master's and PhD degrees welcome)
One or more years of work experience at a company
Permanent resident visa holder (non-Japanese nationals)

What we offer:

Vacation/Holidays: Over 120 days per year

Paid vacation: Up to 20 days in the first year depending on the month of hire
