Job Description

We’re looking for a commercially minded and analytically driven Market Planner to help shape KFC’s network growth strategy across Australia and New Zealand. In this role, you’ll use market, demographic, competitor and location intelligence data to identify development opportunities, assess trade areas and provide recommendations that influence where KFC invests, develops and grows its restaurant network. This role is ideal for someone who is curious about how markets evolve and what makes a location successful. You'll combine data, commercial thinking and market insights to help answer one of KFC's most important strategic questions: where should we grow next?

Job Responsibility

  • Own, manage and evolve KFC's Network Market Plan using GIS and location intelligence tools such as GapMaps and Geotech to identify, prioritise and evaluate growth opportunities across Australia
  • Conduct market, demographic, competitor, trade area and site analysis to support strategic development decisions, including new stores, relocations, expansions and emerging concepts
  • Partner with the Chief Development Officer, National Property & Development Manager and Development Managers to maintain the Strategic Market Plan and identify optimal locations within target trade areas
  • Analyse Retail Gravity Models, customer origin surveys and market performance data to understand customer behaviour, measure development outcomes and strengthen future planning decisions
  • Maintain and enhance market planning databases, reporting and automation processes, while managing relationships with key GIS, modelling and pipeline tracking partners
  • Lead the Investment Committee process, including competitor analysis, site approval coordination and the preparation of recommendations for senior stakeholders
  • Provide market insights and reporting to local leadership, Global Development and Finance teams, while representing SOPAC within the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for global market planning
  • Support the delivery of KFC's development pipeline through collaboration with Franchisees and cross-functional teams, including Finance, Operations, IT, Marketing, Legal, EDC and Development, and contribute to ongoing improvements in the new store opening process

Requirements

  • Degree qualification in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Finance or a related field
  • Experience in business analysis, market planning or a similar analytical role, ideally within retail, QSR or multi-site environments
  • Experience using GIS and location intelligence tools (e.g. GapMaps) to identify and assess growth opportunities
  • Understanding of retail networks, trade areas and customer behaviour within a competitive market
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience interpreting economic, demographic and market data to support decision-making
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external partners
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and drive projects forward

What we offer

  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements, including half-day Fridays
  • Additional wellbeing leave each year
  • Monthly mobile phone and home internet contributions
  • Employee discounts at KFC restaurants
  • Corporate Culture Club initiatives and team experiences
  • Free onsite secure parking at Frenchs Forest
  • A supportive, collaborative and people-first culture focused on growth and development
