Job Description

We are currently looking for a Market Operation Specialist to join our Renewable & Storage Asset Optimization team in Bucharest, Romania. In this role, you will lead the establishment and execution of trading operations in the Romanian Electricity Wholesale Market, acting as the primary liaison between our Greece-based headquarters and Romanian stakeholders. You’ll combine hands-on trading responsibilities with strategic market setup, ensuring optimal representation of renewable and storage assets, full compliance with regulatory frameworks, and efficient market participation. You will also contribute to trading activities in other regional spot power markets where the desk operates (e.g., Italy, Bulgaria).

Job Responsibility

  • Setting up and managing trading operations for renewable and storage assets in the Romanian Electricity Market
  • Acting as the company’s key representative with Romanian market stakeholders, building strong relationships and trust
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with Romanian regulatory requirements, adapting processes to market developments
  • Participating in weekend/holiday operational duties on a rotating basis to maintain continuity of trading activities
  • Representing the company in conferences, consultations, and industry seminars within the Romanian energy landscape
  • Supporting the development of analytical tools to optimize trading operations and streamline reporting
  • Preparing tactical and ad-hoc reports for senior management

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in power market operations, energy portfolio management, or asset optimization
  • Strong background in proprietary or asset-backed electricity trading and knowledge of Romanian market regulations
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with experience in data modeling and optimization algorithms
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (VBA, Python, Matlab, GAMS)
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, or related field
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and ability to work under time pressure

Nice to have

  • Experience with real-time markets (intraday, balancing) is a plus
  • Postgraduate studies in Data Science, Renewables Engineering, or AI are an advantage
