The Market Development Lead (MDL) is responsible for the growth and development of the market to deliver the business plan through collaboration and engagement with Independent Distributor Partners (IDPs) and retail outlets. The MDL is responsible for establishing strong and consistent communication and maintaining collaborative relationships with IDPs, select retail store management and key retailer decision makers. The Market Development Lead must have strong disciplined planning skills to be successful and accomplish a dynamic environment with ever changing technology, consumer behaviors, retail execution and the speed of consumer and shopper behaviors retail, IDP environment in their market.
Job Responsibility:
Grow and develop the market to deliver the business plan through collaboration with Independent Distributor Partners (IDPs) and retail outlets
Establish strong communication and maintain collaborative relationships with IDPs, select retail store management, and key retailer decision makers
Recommend optional resources and technology to support IDP operations
Collaborate with IDPs on dispute resolution with retailers
Act as key liaison between cross functional partners to minimize route disruption
Conduct periodic route consults with IDPs
Conduct individual and group IDP meetings for joint business planning
Drive priority management and organized principles across executing the portfolio business plan
Balance and prioritize total market health across select retailers
Analyze and share market conditions with IDPs
Communicate targets for distribution, merchandising, and promotional execution
Support market call coverage and IDP engagement
Communicate key retailer events and inventory recommendations to IDPs and warehouse teams
Evaluate competitive environment and shopper habits
Collaborate to secure incremental placements and displays
Respond to retailer concerns within 24 hours
Synthesize and interpret data to educate IDPs on growth potential
Build rapport with key store management
Facilitate speed to shelf on new item innovation
Respond to retailer concerns regarding SKU and planogram compliance
Identify and recruit potential new IDPs for open routes
Conduct physical inventories as required
Communicate retail customer standards and sales opportunities
Visit key accounts and stores to build relationships
Follow up on service-related issues within 24 hours
Communicate store required resets for IDPs
Requirements:
HS Diploma
3-5 years of related sales or Consumer Packaged Goods experience
Strong written and verbal communication
Ability to influence and persuade
Strong problem-solving skills
Strong technical and analytical skills
Proficiency in Microsoft skills including Excel and PowerPoint
Demonstrated leadership skills
Nice to have:
B.A. preferred
2 years related sales experience or Consumer Packaged Goods Experience
