We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Marine Technician. In this dynamic role, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain various boats and marine engines, ensuring customers receive top-tier service. Job Responsibility:

  • Perform installs, repairs and maintenance on boats, including outboard, sterndrive, and inboard engines, as well as other vessel components
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using technical expertise
  • Collaborate with supervisors and service administration to address installation or repair challenges, establish workflows, and estimate timeframes
  • Review repair orders and vessel specifications to determine the scope of work and recommend necessary repairs or modifications
  • Conduct safety inspections and utilize service histories to inform customers of required or recommended maintenance
  • Apply bottom paint or antifouling paint to boat hulls and occasionally paint cowlings as needed
  • Perform light refurbishment work on boats, applicable to select dealership locations only
  • Track time and labor for each repair order, ensuring adherence to efficiency goals and minimizing non-billable tasks
  • Ensure boats are tidied up after service work, including wiping handprints and other marks, before returning them to the customer
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols at all times
  • Occasionally step in to support other roles, including moving boats in the absence of a Lot Crew and assisting with service administration or parts-related tasks when necessary
  • Participate in company-required training sessions, meetings, and communications via email and Microsoft Teams

Requirements:

  • Certified in Yamaha or Mercury is a plus
  • Must have knowledge of 12v electrical, rigging, and outboard diagnostics
  • Fiberglass repair a plus
  • Boating experience in and around boats is preferred
  • Know how to work safely in a shop environment, maintain a clean work environment and adhere to required safety policies
  • Know how to maneuver a boat and trailer
  • High School degree
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must pass a background and drug screening

  • Ensure all equipment (including diving life support systems) and vessels are maintained through proactive, preventative maintenance programs
  • Utilize SGS’s maintenance management system (MTC Pro) to schedule and track all maintenance, inspections, and compliance tasks for regional assets – including facility, vehicles, trailers, vessels, life support equipment, generators, underwater video systems, etc. – and maintain accurate logs and photographic records to verify task completion, cleanliness, and regulatory compliance.   • Reconcile maintenance expenditures and CAPEX accounts on a monthly basis in coordination with the General Manager and Regional Accounting, maintaining budgetary control
  • Take a hands-on approach to leadership by actively participating in maintenance and repair tasks as needed. Lead by example in the shop and field, providing coaching and training to team members to ensure work is performed safely, correctly, and efficiently
  • Assign and/or perform routine maintenance on marine diesel engines (e.g. oil changes, filter replacements, belt adjustments)
  • Diagnose and repair issues in diesel engines, propulsion systems, control systems, and hydraulic systems
  • Conduct sea trials to verify repairs and ensure vessels are fully operational and seaworthy
  • Retrofit or upgrade engines and equipment per manufacturer guidelines and industry standards
