Job Description

Amentum is seeking a Senior Marine Mechanical Engineer to support a NAVSEA Contract and be a member of the Marine Engineering Group. The Marine Engineering Group is the Navy’s technical authority for machinery systems for all surface ships, aircraft carriers and submarine classes – including but not limited to developing and designing, evaluating and assessing, analyzing and establishing standards and risks, and demonstrating and implementing new marine system technologies. The marine systems include electrical systems, motors, controls, energy storage, battery system certification, mechanical and hydraulic systems, power generation, shafting, mounting gear, handling equipment, and fluid systems.

Job Responsibility

  • Provides expert consultation in one or more areas for the design, development and implementation of technical products, systems and draft guidance and policy under Government directions
  • Resolves highly complex technical issues and conducts advanced research
  • Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures
  • Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge
  • Communicate goals in solution or project goal terms
  • Provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering field or related area
  • Must be able to design, analyze, evaluate, process assessments, root cause analysis, establish and maintain specifications and standards, and evaluate risk
  • Must have extensive engineering knowledge and be considered an expert in one or more engineering specialties
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must have an Active SECRET US Government Clearance
  • US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance
