Job Description

The Marine Logistics Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing the full logistics chain from procurement through delivery to site — with particular ownership of the sealift program. This is a high-tempo coordination role requiring someone who can manage multiple contractors and cargo streams simultaneously, is experienced in North Slope logistics, keeps meticulous records, and solve problems in real time when plans change. This position involves supporting a client’s exploration project in West Harrison Bay, located about 90 miles WNW of Deadhorse, AK. The project plans to drill three exploration wells from artificial ice islands in shallow nearshore waters during Winter 2026/2027. Preparations, including staging camps, drilling, and construction, will occur in summer 2026, with equipment pre-staged on shallow draft deck barges moored in the Kogru River and at the old DEW line site there. Equipment will mainly be loaded from West Dock in Prudhoe Bay via tug and barge. Site preparation and sea lift are scheduled from early July to late September 2026. Winter operations begin in late November with crews mobilized for ice construction. Between these phases, caretakers will monitor the site and equipment during the shoulder season.

Job Responsibility

  • Own the sealift plan end-to-end: working with client's leadership to develop the detailed loading plan to meet program objectives, coordinate barge scheduling with the marine contractor, develop detailed barge-by-barge load plans for each of the 8–10 loads, and manage cargo sequencing to align with site construction priorities
  • Develop and maintain cargo manifests, weight and measure records, and dangerous goods documentation for all sealift loads
  • Coordinate with client's Operations leaders on receiving end to ensure total supply chain is synchronized
  • Willingness to adjust the plan in real-time as needed
  • Track all inbound freight from vendor to port to site
  • resolve discrepancies between purchase orders, manifests, and received goods
  • Liaise with port and terminal operators on staging areas, loading equipment availability, and load-out scheduling
  • Oversee seafastening as required
  • Maintain the project logistics tracker and provide regular status updates to the leadership team on cargo progress, risks, and schedule impacts
  • Work with the Anchorage based operations team to problem solve issues as they arise
  • Represent client and Fairweather in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions, including with members of the local North Slope community

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of logistics experience in a remote or resource industry setting
  • North Slope logistics experience strongly preferred
  • Direct experience with sealift, barge operations, or marine cargo coordination out of Westdock or Oliktok Point is highly preferred
  • Demonstrable experience facilitating and maintaining a safety-first culture on job sites with multiple subcontractors
  • Experience leading multiple subcontractors
  • Strong understanding of load planning, cargo manifesting, and freight documentation including dangerous goods
  • Proficiency with logistics tracking tools, spreadsheets, and project management software (MS Project, smartsheets, or equivalent)
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions under time pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • comfortable interfacing with contractors, vendors, and senior project leadership
  • Holds relevant training: NSTC unescorted, first aid training
  • Knowledge and experience with the Jones Act is considered an asset
