We are seeking an experienced Marine Engineer to support offshore construction and fabrication activities at our partner shipyard in Yantai, China. This role is critical for ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and safe execution of offshore construction projects during the fabrication and pre-commissioning phases.
Job Responsibility:
Monitor and verify offshore structure fabrication against design specifications and technical drawings
Conduct daily site inspections of steel works, welding, and assembly operations
Ensure compliance with international standards (DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, RMRS) and client specifications
Prepare and review construction reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and technical documentation
Coordinate with yard engineers, welders, and construction teams on technical issues
Perform material certifications and traceability verification
Witness and document critical construction activities (welding, NDT, pressure tests)
Verify third-party inspection reports and test certificates
Ensure adherence to HSE protocols and construction procedures
Maintain detailed construction records and photographic documentation
Liaise between client, classification society, and yard management
Prepare progress reports and technical updates for project stakeholders
Attend daily toolbox meetings and construction coordination meetings
Support commissioning preparation and pre-delivery inspections
Troubleshoot technical issues and recommend corrective actions
Verify supplier documentation and material certificates
Support procurement activities for critical components
Maintain updated bill of materials (BOM) and equipment registers
Coordinate with logistics for equipment delivery and installation
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent
Minimum 5-7 years offshore construction or fabrication experience
Proven experience in shipyard environments or offshore platform fabrication
Demonstrated knowledge of offshore structural design and construction practices
Demonstrated knowledge of welding procedures (WPS/WPQR) and NDT methods
Demonstrated knowledge of pressure equipment and piping systems
Demonstrated knowledge of classification society requirements (DNV, ABS, Lloyd's)
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings (2D/3D CAD)
Knowledge of construction sequencing and project planning
Familiarity with offshore safety systems and emergency procedures
Experience with construction management software (SAP, Primavera, or similar)
Excellent communication and report-writing abilities in English
Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
Team player with ability to work in multicultural environments
Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
Adaptability to work in a demanding shipyard environment
