vessel operation, navigation and maintenance

Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of diesel and gas engines, pumps, compressors, generators, hydraulics, and electronic communication/navigation equipment common to marine vessels. Working knowledge of personnel management and administrative policies and procedures. Some knowledge of the operation and purpose of applicable marine research equipment. Effective communication skills with university personnel, government/legislative officials and their appointed agents, private entities and the general public. Proficiency with use of personal computers, including Microsoft Office software and e-mail applications.
