Job Description:

In this role, you will support the placement and management of insurance programs for various maritime assets. You will work closely with senior team members to ensure that client fleets are protected against operational risks while learning the nuances of the international marine market.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assisting with the preparation of risk profiles for insurers and helping to secure terms that meet client requirements
  • Identifying potential gaps in coverage and updating insurance records based on changes in vessel operations or trade routes
  • Ensuring the accuracy of policy documentation and assisting with maritime regulatory filings
  • Working with internal departments to provide a smooth service experience for clients from their initial inquiry through to the renewal of their policies

Requirements:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in insurance or the maritime industry
  • A basic understanding of maritime insurance principles or the Singapore shipping landscape
  • The ability to convey technical information clearly and work effectively with both internal teams and external partners
  • A Degree or Diploma in Maritime Studies, Business, or a related field
  • A proactive approach to developing technical skills and a desire to grow within the marine insurance niche

Nice to have:

  • Relevant insurance certifications (such as BCP, PGI, or ComGI)
  • Maritime-related internships or a demonstrated interest in shipping operations

  • Manage the placement, renewal, and day-to-day administration of all corporate insurance policies (Marine Hull & Machinery, P&I, War Risk, Protection & Indemnity, aviation, motor fleet, liability and other relevant covers)
  • Review insurance and indemnity clauses in financing agreements, charter parties, sale & purchase contracts, and loan documentation to ensure full compliance
  • Build and maintain comprehensive insurance schedules covering limits, deductibles, conditions, exclusions, premiums and renewal dates
  • Ensure timely issuance, verification and filing of certificates of insurance, endorsements, debit notes, invoices and proof of payment
  • Proactively monitor renewal deadlines and contractual insurance obligations
  • escalate risks as needed
  • Coordinate with international brokers and underwriters (London, Scandinavian, Middle-East and Far-East markets) for quotations, placements and policy adjustments
  • Provide insurance support during due diligence, bank reporting, audits and transaction execution
  • Lead the claims management process: gather documentation, liaise with brokers/loss adjusters, track progress and report internally
