Job Description

The Manufacturing Production Manager is a high-impact leadership role at our Ocala, Florida manufacturing plant, responsible for driving excellence in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and employee engagement. This is a hands-on manufacturing leadership position within a medium-sized, 24/7 operation featuring 20+ production lines, four production supervisors, and approximately 70 hourly manufacturing employees. This role is ideal for a leader who thrives on the plant floor, enjoys developing frontline talent, and knows how to translate strategy into consistent production results. With continued growth and an exciting transition to a brand-new manufacturing facility planned for Fall 2026, this position offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future of the site and influence how the next generation of manufacturing operations is built.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and oversee multi-shift manufacturing production operations in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment
  • Build, coach, and develop four production supervisors, strengthening frontline leadership capability
  • Foster a safety-first manufacturing culture, ensuring consistent compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • Drive performance across safety, quality, cost, productivity, and employee engagement metrics
  • Engage and motivate approximately 70 hourly manufacturing employees across 20+ operating lines
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to optimize processes, reduce waste, and improve throughput
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and HR partners
  • Play a key role in site growth initiatives, including preparation for the transition to a new facility in Fall 2026

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations, Business, or engineering, preferred
  • 5-7 years manufacturing leadership experience or equivalent applicable experience
  • Manufacturing background is mandatory

Nice to have

  • Experience with TPM deployment and sustainment
  • Able to teach and communicate in simple, impactful terms
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience ramping up production at a manufacturing facility
  • Can think strategically, execute a chosen direction and deliver results
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred not required

  • Production Leadership: Plan, direct, and coordinate daily fabrication and production activities to meet output targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules. Own the production plan and communicate priorities clearly across shifts and teams.
  • Team Management: Lead, develop, and mentor a team of production supervisors, fabrication technicians, CNC machinists, welders, and manufacturing technicians. Manage hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, time and attendance, and disciplinary actions.
  • Fabrication Oversight: Oversee all fabrication processes including CNC machining (VTL, mill, lathe), welding (MIG/TIG), sheet metal forming, cutting, grinding, fitting, and mechanical assembly operations.
  • Safety & Compliance: Champion a culture of safety on the production floor. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company PPE requirements, and all applicable health and safety standards. Partner with the Director of Safety to drive incident prevention and safety training.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the Quality Manager to ensure all fabricated components and assemblies meet engineering specifications, tolerance requirements, and quality standards. Implement inspection checkpoints and corrective action processes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Apply lean manufacturing principles and operational excellence methodologies to identify waste, reduce cycle times, improve yields, and increase throughput. Lead Kaizen events and process improvement initiatives.
  • Capacity & Resource Planning: Manage labor allocation, equipment utilization, and material flow to optimize production capacity. Coordinate with supply chain and procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, and Facilities teams to support new product introductions (NPI), design-for-manufacturing (DFM) reviews, and production ramp-up activities.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Track and report on key production metrics including output volume, on-time delivery, scrap/rework rates, labor efficiency, and safety incidents. Use data to drive decisions and present regular updates to leadership.
  • Budget Management: Manage the fabrication department budget, including labor costs, tooling, consumables, and capital equipment needs. Identify cost-reduction opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
