This Manufacturing Engineering position focuses on PCBA and Server System Assembly, supporting both the introduction of new products and the ongoing production of existing ones at our Contract Manufacturer (CM) sites. The role is critical to advancing AMD’s assembly capabilities, particularly for our expanding portfolio of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence products. Success in this position requires applying innovative approaches and industry best practices to establish robust manufacturing processes, drive continuous yield improvements, and ensure timely product launches. The engineer will serve as a key technical liaison between internal teams and external manufacturing partners.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the implementation of PCBA and automated assembly processes for both new product introduction (NPI) and high-volume production
Drive ODM/CEM partners to meet quality and yield targets
Develop, document, and maintain operational procedures for AMD and manufacturing partners
Design and optimize efficient assembly workflows, including methods, materials, and detailed work instructions
Lead engineering meetings and manage cross-functional technical projects
Own product lifecycle management from NPI through end-of-life (EOL), addressing manufacturability, cost, and efficiency improvements
Provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) input to engineering teams to enhance product design and reduce costs
Support failure analysis for production components, assemblies, and field returns
Lead and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, capacity expansion, and supply chain optimization
Participate in audits at ODM/CEM sites to ensure process compliance and drive yield improvements
Act as the primary liaison between AMD teams and manufacturing partners to resolve yield and process issues
Foster strong working relationships across internal teams and external partners
Adapt to evolving products, suppliers, and responsibilities in a dynamic environment
Travel to support external sites and partners as needed
Requirements:
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
DFX experience
Certifications or training in Control Plans, PFMEA, APQP, IPC standards, and environmental compliance
Familiarity with SMT PCBA assembly processes
Experience presenting technical content to senior management
Proficiency in process management techniques such as Gage R&R, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing
Skilled in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Experience preparing and maintaining ISO documentation
Background in automation and robotics is a plus
Proven ability to manage suppliers and cross-functional teams under tight deadlines
Experience working with geographically distributed engineering and manufacturing teams
