We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Manufacturing Controller to join our growing team in the Durham area. This role will serve as the financial lead for manufacturing operations, overseeing accounting functions, internal controls, and financial reporting while partnering closely with plant leadership to drive operational and financial performance. The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing experience, a hands-on mindset, and the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee all accounting and financial reporting activities for manufacturing operations
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Manage cost accounting functions including standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, and bill of materials accuracy
Partner with operations and plant leadership to analyze production costs, margins, and efficiencies
Maintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures in compliance with GAAP
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements
Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors
Oversee inventory controls, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes
Prepare financial forecasts, budgets, and operational reporting for leadership
Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization across manufacturing operations
Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff as applicable
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with significant exposure to manufacturing environments
Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory management
Solid knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
Experience working with ERP systems in a manufacturing setting
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skill
