Managing Director, Hospital Pathology – Oklahoma City, OK Responsible for the medical quality of a hospital pathology practice including the hiring, management and training of pathologists. Leading a team that executes the professional component with high quality and efficiency. Partners with hospital and practice operations leads to drive the overall operations of a hospital pathology practice. Shared responsibilities include the services and service levels provided to patients, the working environment of its employees, and the practice’s overall financial performance. Position requires close collaboration with leaders and physicians within the Division and across other lines of the Company’s business. With operations leadership the Managing Director of Pathology develops and implements sound policies to improve performance, methods, and quality of medical services provided by the practice.

Job Responsibility:

  • Hires, manages and develops pathologists to provide high quality diagnosis in a timely manner and work collaborate with the technical team to optimize our offering and workplace community
  • Guides and directs practice leaders and physicians to increase effectiveness, revenue, new business and quality output
  • Develops and establishes measures to improve the quality of medical services provided by the hospital practice
  • Confers with hospital administration, division leaders, senior leaders, other managers and physicians to review practice operations and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions
  • Partners closely with practice operations leader to drive profitable growth
  • Interacts with Finance, Sales and Operations leaders to ensure practice revenues and OM are monitored and on target
  • Partners closely with leadership at the serviced hospitals
  • Efficiently manages the pathologist team and partners with operations to ensure that financial budgets are met
  • Ensures that financial controls are in place and there are no surprises in business performance or billing performance
  • Participates on leadership teams in an effort to standardize and improve operations within the Division or Company, as appropriate
  • Works in partnership with the AP leadership team to enhance customer relationships and revenue opportunities
  • Works in partnership with Human Resources for the recruitment, selection, retention and motivation of physicians and employees including training, development, and performance management
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information concerning patients, physicians, employees, clients, vendors, and the Company
  • Supervises 12 medical pathology employees
  • Direct and indirect reports can include Pathologists and Pathologist Assistants

Requirements:

  • Must be a physician qualified to assume professional, scientific, consultative, organizational, administrative, and educational responsibility for the services offered by the laboratory
  • At least 5 years of prior experience in a hospital laboratory setting
  • Active unrestricted medical licensure for the state, territory, or country where the business unit is located
  • Meet the qualifications as listed with CLIA
  • Must be certified by the American Board of Pathology (or equivalency for osteopathic pathologists) in the specialty of Anatomic/Clinical Pathology
