Job Description

The Head of Corporate Banking Mexico is a senior management-level position responsible for the strategic direction of the Corporate Banking business. The role encompasses people management, strategic client management, liaison with other areas of the bank to ensure superior client service, solution development and implementation, and ensuring adherence to all legal, regulatory, compliance, risk and other policy standards.

Job Responsibility

  • Responsible for the overall management of the client relationship team which helps provide a wide range of treasury and corporate finance solutions to our clients, including cash management, trade, vendor finance, FX, general credit, loans, debt capital markets, share repurchase, and interest rate and equity derivatives
  • Partner with Investment Banking to drive and execute episodic transactions and with key stakeholders, including Risk and Institutional Credit Management (ICM)to allocate capital prudently and in adherence with risk policies
  • Work in partnership with Mexico product heads under the Cluster and Banking Head leadership, as well as Global product partners and Industry Heads
  • Establish and meet revenue goals and other goals related to budget, risk management, and credit allocation in partnership with ICM and Risk
  • Responsible for own client coverage and yearly performance targets
  • Responsible for driving client account planning, product agnostic cross sell, client access, and effective capital allocation
  • Understand regional trends in order to identify growth opportunities, anticipate obstacles and communicate a forward-looking vision that is responsive to changes in the environment
  • Ensure client relationships and proposed client solutions meet or exceed internal risk and return standards, including stringent ethical standards
  • Credit senior in team with in-depth knowledge of credit policies and responsible for Credit decisions /approving credits. Fully accountable for credit spectrum including documentation, Target Market identification, audit, due diligence, and early problem recognition
  • Manage Customer Profitability (Revenue, Expense, CoC, EBIT, and NI) and ROTCE
  • Manage and develop talent according to business priorities and in adherence with established budgets
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards
  • Understand and effectively manage regulatory, KYC and compliance business responsibilities

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience covering clients
  • Significant banking experience
  • Strong product knowledge across Markets, Services, Investment Banking and Lending with demonstrated analytical ability
  • Strong communication skills
  • In-depth understanding of compliance issues, and global and local regulatory requirements
  • Experience in working with and within a matrix organization and cross-functional teams
  • Senior Credit Officer preferred
  • In-depth industry knowledge
  • Proven existing customer relationships across Mexico and Latin America
  • Proven track record of senior relationships
  • Demonstrates ability to partner well, draw consensus quickly and act decisively, especially within a challenging and cost-constrained environment
  • Strategic thinker and ability to re-align timeously in line with dynamic market conditions
  • Demonstrated ability to balance between internal management and external client time
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with intellectual capability to create momentum and a collective agenda across a diverse population and competing priorities
