Lead the Future of Waterways Management – AO8 Manager. Location: Gold Coast Classification: AO8. Contract: 3-month contract with the potential to extend ... ASAP START! Are you a highly strategic leader with a strong grasp of legislation, compliance, and operational standards? We are partnering with a prominent Queensland Government statutory authority to find an experienced Manager to lead a dedicated waterways management team. This is a heavy-hitting regulatory role that requires sharp statutory interpretation, operational acumen, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments. The Role: Reporting directly to the CEO, you will step into a critical leadership position within the senior management team. You will be responsible for driving high performance, setting KPIs, and providing expert advice on complex, often contentious management issues.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead, manage, and appraise a responsive operational team
  • Strategically manage a multi-million dollar operational budget
  • Provide strategic management and advice consistent with legislation and best practice standards
  • Lead compliance management activities in partnership with enforcement agencies
  • Oversee authorities, approval processes, events, and complaints management
  • Lead the response in disaster management, including marine pollution emergencies, when required

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in leadership, management, and setting team KPIs
  • Maritime or enforcement experience
  • Strong capabilities in statutory interpretation, regulatory problem-solving, and strategic planning
  • A proven track record in compliance and enforcement
  • A marine qualification, such as a master less than 24 metres or 35 metres in length, is highly desirable.
