Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Manager, US Customs Operations who can secure operational compliancy within the delivery chain in a constantly changing environment due to geopolitical tensions, trade wars and therefor tightening rules and regulations. This role requires the capability to lead the US customs operations team, which is exposed to local regulations. Next to that, local customs improvement projects are in scope as well. Job Responsibility

  • Lead the team to ensure full compliance with customs laws, regulations and procedures during operation
  • Work together with the compliancy stakeholders (Tax & Customs, Export Control, Legal and ABS) to improve and embed the compliancy control framework and standardize where possible
  • Drive the change to make the US team fit for the future, considering the global developments and changing rules and regulations
  • Professionalize global broker management and internal customs processes
  • Lead and inspire the US customs operations team, and indirectly, the outsourced workers
  • Develop the team, expand knowledge and manage operational HR processes and performance management
  • Communicate strategy and motivate teams to achieve extraordinary results
  • Build and manage strategic networks internally and externally at senior leadership level with Trade & Customs, Export Control, Data management, Legal, Sales and all the interfacing departments within the Delivery chain and Customer Support
  • Ensure effective feedback loops and reliable business insights
  • Act as one of the primary contact points for Customs and other government authorities (together with Tax and Customs Department)

Requirements

  • Master’s degree with extensive experience in Operations within Customs Operations
  • Proven experience in planning, managing, and organizing resources within tactical timescales
  • Strong background in leading complex stakeholder environments
  • Customs knowledge is a must
  • Strong Leadership skills and people development
  • Stakeholder engagement and clear communication
  • Continuous improvement and process optimization
