Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic Engineering Manager to join our team who will lead and thrive in a fast-paced work environment, using effective communication, problem-solving and prioritization skills. Individuals that are well organized, show great attention to detail, and employ critical thinking are well-suited for our team. This AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) team is looking for a senior level person that can lead the firmware team, mentor upcoming developers, provide long range strategy, and is willing to jump in to help resolve issues quickly. You will be involved in all areas that impact the team including security , power & performance, memory , automation, and development. The right candidate will be informed on the latest trends and become prepared to give consultative direction to senior management. Manager will play key role in ensuring AMD Embedded firmware team delivers critical Embedded market segment (Networking, Storage, Automotive, Thin client) requirements.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead firmware team that deliver power management, security and platform memory setup firmwares
  • Plan, track and deliver all firmware deliverables
  • Participate in Design, develop, and debug firmware for internal/external systems and platforms that use AMD APU/CPU
  • Participate in Design of firmware features required by AMD APU/CPU
  • Interact with internal organizations, vendors, and partners
  • Deliver firmware features for AMD new platforms crafted in house or externally
  • Support existing firmware for customer escalations and debug firmware and system related issues
  • Oversee APU/CPU validation, platform validation, and debug engineers to develop/debug system and silicon issues
  • Collaborate with core firmware teams and ensuring Embedded requirements are addressed
  • Work with Platform Firmware Organization (PFO) in conjunction with Embedded segment architects to meet product requirements
  • Review key firmware requirement / enhancement inputs pertaining to focused Embedded markets
  • Provide custom firmware design support for tier-1 customers by with identifying solution and providing design documents
  • Design, develop, test, review features / releases pertaining to Power Management, Security and Memory
  • Deliver low level design documents and user guides
  • Assist customer support team in addressing any firmware related queries

Requirements

  • 16+ years overall experience in field of firmware development and desired 5+ years of experience in leading a development team with 7+ members
  • Strong understanding of C language programming
  • Good understanding and experience with BIOS, power management and PCIe
  • Good knowledge SoC power management – CPU/Device power states, hot-plug etc
  • Security Firmware experience
  • Good knowledge about silicon security subsystem / policy, root of trust, TPM/fTPM, Widevine
  • Good knowledge of trusted applications and handshake
  • Experience with memory recognition and configuration technologies
  • Experience with hardware debug tools
  • Good understanding of DDR4, DDR5, NVDIMM
  • Good understanding of different DIMM types (UDIMM/SODIMM/RDIMM/LRDIMM/LPDDR)
  • Good understanding of UMC features like ECC, SME, SEV, RAS etc
  • Firmware development & release process understanding
  • Prior experience working with firmware design & development
  • Strong knowledge of UEFI BIOS, ACPI. AGESA knowledge is a big plus
  • Strong knowledge of platform BIOS development
  • Boot loader, Linux knowledge is a plus
  • Good to have exposer to JIRA
  • Excellent communication and articulation skills
