About the role: A highly scalable, highly available, real-time advertising platform is critical to supporting and growing Roku's rapidly expanding ad business. The mission of the Ad Engineering team is to build this platform. The Ad Serving team designs, develops, deploys, and maintains Roku's Supply-Side, Ad Mediation, Demand-Side platforms and the services that power CTV commerce. These platforms sit at the core of Roku's ad monetization and are critical to the business. We are hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the Supply and CTV commerce teams. This leader will play a significant role in shaping product and technical strategy and driving execution across the Ad Engineering organization.
Job Responsibility
Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team to execute ambitious product and technical roadmaps
Hire, grow, and retain top talents, fostering a healthy environment where individuals can do their best work
Set the technical vision and take ownership of the scalability, stability, and performance of the Ad Serving platform to support the business
Partner closely with business, product, operation, and other teams to build core product features that connect advertiser demand to supply and optimize ad selection and delivery
Take complete ownership of impactful initiatives and make pragmatic technical decisions
Develop good understanding of advertising business needs, building domain knowledge to understand systems and data better
Requirements
Experience managing a team, including hiring, onboarding, and professional development
Overall 14+ years of experience building large-scale distributed backend systems, including 3+ years leading teams
Perform as a Staff+ technologist on complex, low-latency, revenue-critical, large-scale distributed backend systems
Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills
Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and initiatives
Experience fostering AI-first thinking within engineering teams to drive innovation
