Job Description:

We are looking for a passionate Engineering Manager to lead a team of talented backend engineers building low latency, high throughput and performance ad tech systems. This role requires a strong technical foundation in Go/Java (Backend) along with solid experience in microservices and serverless architecture and Database systems. You will lead a team of engineers contributing towards the success of Viant’s Ad serving and measuring system. Your job will involve overseeing the design and implementation of features to the bidding server in collaboration with partner engineering teams and product management.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the development of high quality features based on requirements from product managers
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance, reliability, and scalability
  • Be involved in code / design on occasion, collaborating with the engineering team to contribute to critical projects, conduct code reviews, and provide technical guidance when necessary while balancing leadership responsibilities
  • Operate high-efficiency teams by implementing quality practices, ensuring speed of delivery, overseeing architecture and design, and maintaining high code quality
  • Foster a culture of continuous growth and improvement through coaching, mentoring, feedback and clear measurable outcomes

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience, including 1-3+ years’ experience managing low latency high throughput backend teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, Masters preferred
  • 6+ years hands on programming capabilities in Java and/or Go Lang
  • Track record in building large, horizontally scalable distributed systems
  • Intimate knowledge of different cloud providers and services, especially AWS and GCP
  • Experience building large-scale, customer-facing applications with a focus on realtime performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Ability to reason about latency, throughput, CPU/memory profiles, and performance bottlenecks in real-time systems
  • Successful experience with agile development and CI/CD processes
