Bentley is creating an open platform for the built and natural environment to empower software developers to build digital twin experiences. Cesium has more than 10,000,000 lifetime open-source downloads, and the Cesium ion cloud reaches more than 20,000 monthly active developers. This management role reports to and collaborates closely with the Head of Software Engineering to empower Bentley’s platform software development teams to do their best work and continuously ship meaningful software that impacts the world and our business.

Job Responsibility:

Manage and lead a team of engineers responsible for the Platform’s 3D Runtimes & Pipelines development team
Oversee the development team responsible for the native 3D capabilities of the iTwin and Cesium platforms, including the development and maintenance of 3D tiling pipelines and Cesium plugins for game engines like Unreal and Unity
Work directly with the Head of Engineering to support overall professional growth, including recruiting, training, mentoring, and performance management of the team
Work closely with the Division Chief Technology Officer (DCTO) to execute robust and scalable architecture
Facilitates a culture of openness and collaboration, internally within and among teams, and externally with the open-source community that we serve
Collaborates cross-functionally, especially with Product Management, to execute the roadmap
Runs the systems and processes to enable us to continuously ship high-quality software that users want while transparently engaging all stakeholders

Requirements:

10+ years of experience in software development with significant and sustained demonstrable experience of distributed teams to enduring success
Leadership experience developing successful APIs, libraries, platforms, and/or specifications for software developers
Is a fantastic communicator in person and in writing to a variety of stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences, and individual contributors and executives
Is transparent, has no hidden agenda, and demonstrates a high degree of emotional intelligence
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
Purpose-based global travel may be about 25%
Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements)

Nice to have:

Knowledge of geospatial, AECO, and/or computer graphics is preferred
Knowledge of 3D development and 3D graphics is a bonus
Knowledge of Cesium, 3D Tiles, glTF, iTwin, BIS, and/or iModel is a bonus
Experience with game engines such as Unreal and Unity, specifically with Cesium native plugins, is a plus
