Job Description

This role is responsible for the day-to-day security racing operation, administration and supervision of the security team ensuring the protection of Woodbine Mohawk Park assets and the safety of its guests and employees. The Security Manager will maintain staff development, awareness, implementation, and compliance of the security programs, relevant policies, and procedures.

Job Responsibility

  • Manages Security Live Racing operations at Mohawk Park
  • Develops and implements detailed plans and recommends policies regarding program specific requirements
  • Manages and motivates subordinates
  • Manages the day-to-day operation of all assigned staff including special events
  • Monitors, evaluates, and documents staff performance
  • Works directly with the Sr. Manager, Physical Security on developing standards for the Mohawk Park Security team
  • Develop standards, work plans, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets
  • Implementation of cost-effective solutions
  • Acts as a security representative in association with law enforcement and emergency services personnel
  • Ensures emergency plans and procedures are created, developed, implemented, and maintained
  • Develop strong relationships with other department managers and outside agencies
  • Provides advice, consultation and support to employees on policies and procedures
  • Manage the recruitment program on selection and training of new hires
  • Leads, motivates, coaches, and develops security staff
  • Conduct monthly 1 on 1 meetings with direct reports as well as complete thorough yearly evaluations
  • Ensure that Fire Safety procedures and Occupational Health and Safety regulations are followed
  • Manage the security portion of Special Events
  • Review Performance Management cases
  • Attend and oversee Step 1 Grievances
  • Complete Budgetary reviews to identify and explain variances
  • Participating in Corporate functions
  • Arrange and assist in special events

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in law or law enforcement, public administration, business administration management, or an approved equivalent combination of education, certification/accreditation, and/or relevant experience
  • Security Certification from ASIS (PSP, CPP, or PCI) is an asset
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a Security Management role
  • Valid Smart Serve
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Valid Standard First Aid
  • A dynamic leader with experience in management, regulatory or enforcement environments, in a unionized environment
  • Experience developing investigative strategies and conducting investigations of a complex/sensitive nature
  • Experience leading change management initiatives
  • Experience implementing effective compliance and enforcement strategies
  • Experience leading a team of staff to achieve corporate and department objectives
  • Demonstrated commitment to guest service principles
  • Highly developed interpersonal, human relations, written and oral communication, conflict resolution, project management, analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
  • High-level risk awareness and risk management
  • Experience of writing policy, standing order procedures, drafting reports, preparing business cases and compiling and adjusting duty rosters
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Proficient in the use of and knowledge of computer systems (e.g. Word, Excel, Access Control, and Video Management Systems)
  • Solid working knowledge of AGCO regulations, Woodbine Entertainment Policies and Procedures, Occupational Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Liquor License Act, Trespass to Property Act, Criminal Code, other related provincial statutes
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply the provisions of applicable Federal, Provincial, Municipal statutes
  • Demonstrated ability to upgrade knowledge through courses, training, and professional development opportunities
