Job Description: SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, Brown Innovation and Research Collaborative for Health (BIRCH), and in collaboration with the Director of Grants and Contracts, manage the activities of Research Finance across the Brown University Health system. This includes, but is not limited to, the post-award financial activities of all grants, contracts, subcontracts, consortium agreements, industrial sponsored activities, and internally funded projects. The Manager, Research Finance also serves as liaison to principal investigators, faculty, staff, granting institutions, and auditors.
Job Responsibility:

The Manager, Research Finance also serves as liaison to principal investigators, faculty, staff, granting institutions, and auditors
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience, preferably in the Academic/Research health care environment with at least four years of research finance experience and a minimum of two years of supervisory responsibility required
Favorable experience in the development and implementation of internal controls needed to prepare and reconcile research accounting entries, and to prepare summary status reports on many research grants, funds, and contracts
Recent experience with a complex research grant automated accounting system meeting the accounting/financial reporting requirements imposed by all types of funding agencies, including Federal, State, and local
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective quality programs
Must be fluent in Microsoft Office, including Access and Excel, and other federal government grant submission programs
Familiarity with applicable requirements, regulations and methods related to grant funding, grant application preparation and management, and post award management of grant awards
Familiarity with federal acquisition regulations, federal contract preparation, negotiation, and post award management requirements for federal contracts
Interpersonal and verbal communications skills to gain the cooperation of others and to exchange factual information with all levels of personnel and with representatives of external funding organizations
Should demonstrate a very high level of written and oral communications skills
ability to conceptualize, develop and manage quality research administration services, with effective leadership/management skills and commitment to total quality management
