Ensign is 'People Powered,' and this role sits at the very heart of that philosophy. You will not just be managing compliance, you will be the architect of a 'Zero Harm' culture. As a key advisor to the VP of GlobalHSE and the VP of Australian Operations, you will provide the leadership and direction necessary to navigate high-reliability environments and complex regulatory landscapes. About the Role: This is a senior-level position designed for a strategic thinker who isn't afraid to get their boots on the ground. You will oversee the development and implementation of robust QHSE&T programs that protect our people and the environment while ensuring world-class service quality.

Job Responsibility:

  • Developing and managing the annual QHSE strategic plan and improvement initiatives for Australian business units
  • Identifying emerging risks and implementing sophisticated controls across drilling and well-servicing operations
  • Compiling monthly HSE management reports and providing data-driven insights to the executive team
  • Acting as a primary liaison with government agencies, regulators, and industry bodies like APPEA and the Australian Drilling Industry Training Committee
  • Conducting site visits (domestic and international) to engage with rig crews and ensure site-level operational excellence

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a Senior Leadership QHSE&T role, with extensive knowledge of oilfield contracting services
  • Diploma of Health and Safety and a Diploma (or Cert IV) in Training and Assessment are essential
  • Proficiency in ISO 9001 & ISO 45001 standards, high-level risk management, and electronic HSE management systems
  • Qualifications in TapRoot or iCAM investigation methodologies
  • A professional communicator who respects the chain of command while effectively influencing all levels of an organisation
