Job Description

The Sr. Manager Marketing Purchasing is responsible for sourcing and management of all contracts with external providers of services to VWGoA’s marketing and sales teams, including an annual procurement budget of approximately $1.2 billion. The role interviews, hires, directs and oversees marketing purchasing employees and develops strategies and policies related to the procurement of goods and services. The candidate must be familiar with the business concepts, practices, procedures and goals of all marketing and sales business areas. The role relies extensively on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. The role reports to the Director General Purchasing at VWGoA.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage a team of Purchasing Agents to ensure that goods and services within the area of responsibility of VWGoA General Purchasing are procured effectively and efficiently
  • Responsibility to ensure business continuity by purchasing goods and services at the best possible quality, price and timeliness
  • Review and approve buyer sourcing projects, either for final approval or for presentation to VW Group sourcing committees as required
  • Develop corporate strategies and policies with respect to purchasing matters
  • Build team environment in an effort to achieve goals and objectives as set forth by VW Group
  • Evaluate and assess individual buyer performance as well as vendor performance
  • Assist suppliers in developing offerings to create a competitive environment to accommodate the needs of VWGoA
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Business Units and suppliers to aid in determining the most appropriate and cost efficient solutions based on business needs
  • Assume responsibilities of Director of General Purchasing as needed when absent
  • Manage procurement of all goods and services within area of responsibility
  • Responsible for approval of contracts with external suppliers up to $1.4 million
  • Ensure compliance with all VWGoA and VW Group policies and requirements
  • Responsible for providing expert level knowledge of the supply base and global market
  • Responsible for motivating and developing the marketing purchasing team
  • Inspiring and challenging buyers to identify innovative purchasing solutions to meet business needs
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations and continuously coach and develop direct reports
  • Leading responsibility for VWGoA strategic cost saving initiative Forum Service Kosten (FSK)
  • Represent VWGoA at important purchasing and industry functions
  • Present sourcing decisions and strategic initiatives to the Board of VWGoA
  • Represent VWGoA as interface to various VW Group companies for all purchasing activities related to marketing
  • Execute strategy aligned to business needs. Review and modify on a regular basis
  • Design and Implement multiple negotiation strategies, pushing boundaries and taking calculated risks to drive maximum value for VWGoA
  • Identify key procurement categories within scope of responsibility and develop methodologies for strategic category management
  • Track and maintain monthly KPI performance for marketing purchasing team
  • Fulfill business plan for annual procurement budget

Requirements

  • 12+ years professional experience
  • 7+ years strategic procurement experience
  • 5+ years leadership experience
  • Bachelor degree and minimum 5 years industry related experience
  • MBA desired
