Job Description:

Manager, Policy & Advocacy provides strategic leadership for Wesley Mission’s advocacy pillars and policy agenda. This role stewards the organisation’s priority advocacy areas and policy agenda, ensuring evidence, lived experience and reform priorities are translated into clear, credible campaign strategies and policy reform agendas that support Wesley Mission’s broader advocacy strategy and service priorities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provides strategic leadership for Wesley Mission’s advocacy pillars and policy agenda
  • Stewards the organisation’s priority advocacy areas and policy agenda
  • Ensures evidence, lived experience and reform priorities are translated into clear, credible campaign strategies and policy reform agendas
  • Works in close partnership with senior leaders across the organisation
  • Provides strategic direction to ensure policy, campaigns, government relations and public engagement are aligned to drive systemic change
  • Line manages the Campaign Lead – Gambling Reform
  • Plays a key role in strengthening sector partnerships and coalitions to amplify Wesley Mission’s influence

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience leading advocacy, policy or reform strategies in complex environments
  • Strong understanding of public policy development and government decision-making
  • The ability to translate service insights and lived experience into reform agendas
  • Experience working with coalitions, alliances or sector partners
  • High-level written communication skills, including submissions and executive advice
  • People leadership experience, including coaching and strategic oversight
  • A collaborative, enterprise-wide mindset
  • An ability to work within and advance a Christian, faith-based organisational context is essential
