This critical role goes beyond maintenance—it's about managing our entire operational ecosystem, driving efficiency, mitigating risk, and leading our commitment to a greener future through Decarbonization and Fleet Management.

Job Responsibility:

  • Procurement Strategy: Working with Strategic Sourcing to develop and lead the procurement process for key contracts
  • Performance Oversight: Evaluating contractor and vendor performance against KPIs
  • Process Streamlining: Identifying opportunities for gap analysis and streamlining processes
  • Inventory Control: Managing all aspects of the Stockroom operation
  • Employee Engagement: Implementing 1-on-1 time to discuss career growth
  • Operational Feedback: Gathering and providing clear, constructive feedback on the night maintenance program
  • Emissions Strategy: Supporting the implementation, maintenance, and reporting of all emissions reduction initiatives
  • Future-Proofing the Fleet: Designing and managing long-term plans for the acquisition, utilization, repair, and disposal of operations vehicles and equipment
  • Energy Conservation: Identifying and implementing strategies for Building Systems Energy Conservation
  • Funding Acquisition: Identifying and applying for grants or funding related to carbon emission reduction initiatives
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitoring and ensuring all building, fire, and life safety systems comply with all relevant legislative requirements
  • Union Management: Navigating collective agreements and confidently having difficult conversations
  • Safety Leadership: Ensuring vendor and contractor compliance with employment laws

Requirements:

  • Proven, substantial experience working in a unionized environment and managing related labour relations matters
  • A university degree or 3-year college diploma in facilities management, project management, business management, contract management, or a related subject area
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in facilities, operations, project management, or a related field
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant employment laws, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and the Employment Standards Act
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large and complex facilities-related projects and strong expertise in procurement and contract management processes
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and statistical skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, sound judgment, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Must have the ability to be on call 24/7 and occasionally work extended or irregular hours
  • Must possess a valid Class "G" Driver's License for the Province of Ontario, access to a personal vehicle, and appropriate business coverage insurance ($2,000,000.00 liability minimum)
