The Surgical Acute Unit at Mercy Hospital of Folsom serves a variety of patients. A majority of the admissions to this department are from our PACU via Surgical Operations and Procedures. As well as some that come through the Emergency Department are sent to our 21 BEDunit. We have a mixture of Post Surgical Med-Surg and Telemetry patients. We highly value approaching patient care with strong teamwork within our unit and within our hospital. Additionally, we pride ourselves on our continual efforts to make improvements to our work in order to produce the best patient outcomes. We are always looking for ways to keep our patients safe and free of hospital acquired conditions. Our team is made up of dedicated professionals and we are looking for individuals that share a passion for patient care.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee a department of nurses, ensuring everyone has what they need to deliver the best care possible to our patients
Engage with the floor. Talk to the nurses, the patients, and families. Keep your finger on the pulse of your department so you can keep things running smoothly
Attend meetings with leadership to learn about new initiatives, budgetary status, areas for improvement, etc., and bring this information back to your team of nurses
Monitor attendance among nursing staff, watching for any patterns of missed shifts which may need addressing
Monitor productivity and efficiency of your department, including budgets. We want to achieve the best throughput while never compromising on care
Mentor people on your team. Share your knowledge and confidence with assistant nurse managers, charge nurses, and others. Build them into potential nurse managers like yourself
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent education and experience
Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience
One (1) year of leadership experience
Registered Nursing License (RN) in state of practice
Current BLS from the American Heart Association
ACLS from the American Heart Association within 30 days
