Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Manager of Compensation to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Minnetonka, Minnesota. This role involves leading the design and management of comprehensive compensation programs to ensure fairness, competitiveness, and compliance with relevant regulations. As a working manager, you will oversee a team of three senior compensation consultants and collaborate with HR and business leaders to align compensation strategies with organizational objectives.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and development opportunities to a team of senior compensation consultants, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability
  • Design, implement, and manage base pay, incentive plans, and sales compensation programs that align with the company's goals and industry benchmarks
  • Develop and maintain job architecture, salary structures, and governance frameworks to ensure consistency and scalability
  • Collaborate with HR business partners and organizational leaders to address compensation needs and provide strategic recommendations
  • Conduct market analyses and benchmarking studies to maintain competitive pay practices and support talent acquisition and retention
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to compensation policies and practices
  • Optimize compensation systems and processes in partnership with payroll and HRIS teams to enhance accuracy and efficiency
  • Act as a subject matter expert on compensation principles, including executive and sales compensation, providing guidance to stakeholders
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional projects focused on total rewards and process improvements
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices to recommend updates and enhancements to existing compensation programs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in compensation management, including sales and executive compensation
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams, with experience managing senior-level professionals
  • Strong knowledge of compensation principles, market analysis, and job evaluation methodologies
  • Familiarity with payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and reporting tools
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to advise and collaborate effectively across all organizational levels
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to drive process improvements and manage multiple priorities
  • Up-to-date knowledge of compliance regulations and best practices in compensation administration
