Job Description

Manages the operations and services of the Cancer Center. Facilitates multi-disciplinary programs to develop standard of care in clinical pathways. Assures departmental competency and compliance to all regulatory, accreditation and hospital standards of care. Prepares and justifies annual budgeting, maintaining effective staffing plans, determining productive and non-productive expenditures, and determining non-labor expense requirements. Coordinates capital equipment budget in collaboration with medical staff. Explores and initiates revenue enhancement activities. Manages department budget within fiscal year approved targets. Participates in the planning, development and implementation of organizational operational and strategic goals. Develops, implements and monitors department safety management programs. Develops and implements business and marketing plans to aid in the development and advancement of service line. Responsible for staffing and performance management of staff. Monitors productivity and quality to maintain compliance with all regulatory standards, gives feedback to staff, and maintains workload.

Requirements

  • Registered nurse license in the state of CA
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association
  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and/or additional job related experience in lieu of the degree
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year of leadership experience

  • Completes various errands as directed including pick-up and delivery of trays, charts, specimens, and reports. Maintains and orders stock for nursing area. Cleans equipment and work areas
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties which require lifting and pushing/pulling while utilizing proper technique and assistive devices. Performs tasks related to nutritional needs of patient under direction of RN to include diet review, tray set up/removal, proper positioning and diet selection
  • Performs tasks related to maintaining skin integrity to include proper repositioning and skin care. Ensures special patient supplies and appliances are provided and maintained such as TED hose and sequential compression devices
  • Under the direction of RN and as determined by site/unit requirements, may be required to remove IVs, provide post mortem care, and bladder scans
  • Practices within policies and procedures of infection prevention by demonstrating hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures, proper disposal of contaminated materials and utilizing proper attire when in direct contact with patients in isolation
