Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Network Operations Engineer to provide second-line technical support for enterprise customers on Vodafone UK Optical Platforms. This role involves managing complex escalations, ensuring timely restoration of services, and maintaining Vodafone’s reputation. You will act as a subject matter expert in optical networks, engaging with internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers to deliver best-in-class service

Job Responsibility

  • Deliver second-line technical support for customer optical services
  • Perform proactive and reactive fault management and troubleshooting
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities for knowledge bases and processes
  • Represent the team in internal and external forums, including direct customer engagement for incident management and service reviews
  • Drive resolution of technical escalations and lead best practices for owned platforms and systems

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in telecommunications with strong knowledge of Vodafone fixed networks
  • Expertise in Ciena Optical Products and Platforms (6500, 5410, Waveserver) and OneControl/MCP NMS
  • Strong understanding of OTN DWDM and SDH technologies
  • Analytical problem solver with a proactive, self-starting approach
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional customer service and manage complex issues effectively
  • HNC or equivalent qualification preferred but not essential
