Support GM China's corporate development and partnership agenda by driving new business opportunities, managing strategic relationships, and facilitating key negotiations through effective cross-functional collaboration — enabling growth and strengthening GM's position in the China market.
Job Responsibility:
Corporate & New Business Development: Identify and assess new business opportunities through continuous industry and competitive monitoring
Lead cross-functional teams in project framing, strategic evaluation, and solution development
Drive project execution and ensure timely progress through effective coordination across GM, joint ventures, and partner organizations
Support senior management decision-making by highlighting key issues, recommending solutions, and preparing briefing materials
Collaborate with global and regional counterparts to ensure consistent alignment on strategy, business priorities, and execution
Partnership & Negotiation Management: Serve as a primary interface with joint venture and external partners to facilitate collaboration and problem-solving
Build strong, trust-based relationships that bridge organizational and cultural differences
Lead or support negotiation of agreements (e.g., Licensing, Engineering Services, Co-Development, and Cooperation Agreements)
Coordinate with Government Relations and Public Policy teams to support project approvals and external engagements
Strategy & Competitive Intelligence: Support China-level and initiative-specific strategy development, tracking implementation and milestones
Conduct market and competitive analyses in collaboration with Planning and Sales functions to derive business implications
Maintain awareness of industry dynamics, policy trends, and competitive intelligence to proactively inform corporate development priorities
Ad Hoc Projects: Lead or contribute to special studies and ad hoc initiatives sponsored by senior management, often involving cross-functional alignment and executive communication
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or above in Business, Finance, Engineering, Economics, or related fields
MBA preferred
5-8 years of relevant experience in corporate development, business consulting, finance, investment, or related areas
experience in the automotive or mobility sector preferred
Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and project management capabilities
able to structure complex business issues, evaluate opportunities, and deliver high-quality results within tight timelines
Solid understanding of the China and global automotive industry, including familiarity with new energy and intelligent vehicle technologies
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in both English and Mandarin
capable of influencing and aligning diverse functions and partners at all levels
Demonstrates high standards of professionalism, learning agility, and sound judgment
consistently delivers high-quality results with precision, composure, and accountability
Nice to have:
Familiarity with GM's joint-venture structures and governance processes is an advantage
